This is a specialised ‘accuracy’ discipline but there is a class for ‘out of the box’ factory rifles.
Custom benchrest rifles are the most accurate rifles around and they are shot from a solid concrete bench off front and rear rests. Three distances are contested – 100, 600 and 1000 yards. The object is to shoot a small ‘group’ rather than hit the bullseye - accuracy rather than marksmanship is the object. For once you can shoot under cover, sat comfortably at the bench – very civilised. If it all sounds too easy, come and try it.
