Diggle Annual Egg Shoot

Got to admit - we stole this competition from the HIckory Egg & Groundhog Shoot which is held every year in Vale, North Carolina USA.

We don't have too many groundhogs at Diggle but the life-size paper target is testing enough for most shooters. Precision Shooting magazine described the Egg Shoot as 'possibly the greatest test of field marksmanship yet devised'.  If it sounds like your thing, just turn up at Diggle for 9.30am (see calendar for dates).  The rules are simple - any rifle, any sights, any rest - as long as you can carry it single-handed to the firing-point.

After three shots at 100, 300 and 500 yards on the groundhog,  competitors get to take just one shot at a hen's egg 500 yards away - break it and you win £100!  Easy?  Well, most years, the egg is broken - often more than one!   Yes, it's only eleven shots in total (no sighters allowed on the day) but it's a great opportunity to chill out, admire all the accurate rifles on display and have some fun.
